President’s Message

It is with great pride, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility that I welcome you on behalf of the Esan Community of Manchester (ECM) to our website. The website has information about our aims, objectives, our governance structure, projects we have done and planned, and a gallery of pictures and videos from our past events.

Established in 2018, the ECM was founded with a powerful vision: to unite the Esan people while preserving, promoting, and showcasing the rich heritage of our nation. Since then, our community has grown into a vibrant, united family built on shared values, mutual support, and collective progress.

As Esan people, we believe fundamentally in unity, mutual respect and compassion. The principle that “I am my brother’s and sister’s keeper” remains at the heart of our mission. In a globalised world where living abroad can often lead to a sense of cultural disconnection and cultural shock, ECM serves as a vital bridge, keeping our people anchored to their identity and traditions and adjusting to new culture in new environment for social cohesion.

Beyond supporting our members in Manchester and the environs, we recognize the importance of contributing to the wider society where we live and work. We believe that our values of integrity, hard work, and community service should enrich the neighbourhoods we call home. As members of ECM, we strive to be positive ambassadors of Esan culture and responsible contributors to the United Kingdom.

Over the years, we have made tangible impact through cultural festivals, charity initiatives, scholarships, career development, youth engagement and development. Our efforts extend to welfare support, cultural collaboration and social projects. These achievements reflect our commitment to supporting our members in the diaspora while giving back to our homeland, community development where we live and work and creating opportunities for future generations.

One of our greatest responsibilities is ensuring the Esan identity thrives among our youth. As many young Esan people grow up across the diaspora, it is essential they understand and connect with their roots, language and values. Through mentorship and cultural education, we are dedicated to ensuring our heritage remains a source of pride for years to come.

ECM is driven by a bold vision for the future. We aspire to build a permanent cultural centre that will serve as a lasting hub for our community – a place for learning, networking, and celebration. We also seek to strengthen youth participation and expand our charitable impact, building a progressive community that the future generations will be proud to inherit.

Our strength lies in our family values, professional network, and youth-driven focus. Together, we continue to foster an environment where every member feels valued, empowered and connected.

I warmly invite everyone to join us in preserving our heritage and building a lasting legacy. Through partnership and collective effort, we can continue to make a meaningful impact both within our community and beyond. Kindly explore the website and our other social media platforms on the Facebook and YouTube channel.  We are happy to receive any feedback that will help us achieve our aims and objectives.  If you would like to join us, kindly use the <join Us> button to register and our team will reach out to you to take you through the process of registration.  If you would like to reach out to us, kindly hit the <contact> button.

On behalf of the Executive Committee and the entire ECM family, I would like to thank you for visiting our website and for your continued support and commitment to our shared journey.

Together we will continue to uphold our culture, strengthen our unity and inspire the generations to follow.

Warm regards,
