Risk Assessment Statement
ESAN COMMUNITY OF MANCHESTER (ECM) CIC
acknowledges that it does not have a risk assessment statement approved by the general house of the Association. The Association however certifies that it recognizes that risk management is central to its survival and therefore embeds risk management into its processes and policies in the following areas:
- ECM constitution sets out the basis for our business processes which hold officials accountable in their various responsibilities and the processes resulting from the performance of such functions. The observance of the provisions of our constitution helps to mitigate any potential risks. Also reporting to the general house and the decision-making at the general meeting by way of the resolution of the general house helps to identify and manage risks.
- Communications and information management – there is a dedicated official responsible for leading on communications and information management of the Association. The official ensures all communications comply with the values and legal requirements to avoid reputational damage to the Association
- ECM constitution spells out our basis for relationship and conduct and require members to declare any conflict of interest. We also have a Code of Conduct byelaws that regulate our behaviours which to mitigate any potential risks of misbehaviours that could cause conflict and reputational damage to the Association
Officials comply with financial procedures and observe the limits of authority provided for in the constitution for each responsible official. Only designated officials have access to online banking system. Regular financial reports are prepared with adequate financial controls observed. The financial reports are also audited by an audit committee of the Association
- Governance and strategic direction – there is a cleare governance arrangement in place led by the President of the Association and other officials of the Association. The Association has elective officials who form the executive arm of the Association which provide strategic direction and ensure smooth day-to-day management of the Association. The Executive committee is accountable to the general house. The President chairs the general meetings of the Association
- ECM has members who are lawyers and seeks legal advice when necessary to avoid any breach of legal actions that could lead to risk exposure for the Association
- ECM is apolitical and therefore does not anticipate any significant direct political risks but takes cognizance of the political environment in the UK and its possible impact on our organizational existence
programmes are designed and delivery with input from members and led by the executive committee which reports to the general house for approvals and accountability
