Join us for the Esan Family Day Get-Together 2024, a unique celebration organized by the Esan Community of Manchester (ECM) to honor our heritage, strengthen family bonds, and foster a vibrant Esan community in the UK. This year's event promises an engaging lineup of activities designed to entertain, educate, and connect families, with highlights including a Dancing Competition, Poem Recitation, and lively Esan Language Quiz for children. With delicious Esan food and drinks to enjoy, the day will be a rich immersion in Esan culture, providing families with a chance to celebrate and pass down cherished traditions to the younger generation.
In alignment with ECM’s mission of cultural preservation and community building, Esan Family Day will also include a Cultural Orientation session for those adapting to life in the UK, alongside a Mental Health Talk to promote holistic well-being within our community. Whether you’re reconnecting with your roots or discovering Esan culture for the first time, the event will offer meaningful experiences that highlight the importance of unity, resilience, and cultural pride. As part of our commitment to empowering our members and fostering personal growth, the Esan Community of Manchester (ECM) organized a Professional Development Seminar in the first quarter of 2022. Recognizing the need for professional advancement within our community, this seminar was designed to equip participants with the essential skills required to excel in today’s competitive job market.
The seminar focused on two key areas: CV writing and job interview techniques. These topics were selected to address the common challenges individuals face when pursuing career opportunities, whether they are new to the workforce, transitioning between careers, or seeking to enhance their professional presence.
Key Objectives:
Enhance CV Writing Skills:
Participants were guided on how to craft a compelling and professional CV that highlights their qualifications, experience, and achievements. The session covered essential elements such as tailoring CVs for specific roles, showcasing relevant skills, and structuring the document for maximum impact. The Izesan Program is an initiative by the Esan Community of Manchester (ECM) designed to teach children the Esan language, helping them stay connected to their cultural roots. As many Esan families live in the diaspora, the program plays a crucial role in preserving the language for future generations. Recognizing that language is a vital component of cultural identity, ECM established Izesan to ensure that younger generations not only understand but also speak the Esan language fluently.
The program offers structured language lessons tailored to children, combining traditional teaching methods with interactive activities to make learning engaging and fun. Through songs, storytelling, and conversations, children are immersed in the language while also learning about Esan customs, proverbs, and values.
In addition to fostering language skills, Izesan aims to strengthen the children’s connection to their heritage, allowing them to better understand their cultural identity and community. By equipping children with the ability to communicate in Esan, the program ensures that Esan traditions and values are passed down and maintained, even in the diaspora. Ultimately, Izesan serves as a bridge between generations, keeping the language and culture alive in the hearts and minds of Esan youth.
